how it works:
Initial Consultation
We begin with a free 20-minute phone call where you can tell me what’s bringing you to therapy and ask any questions you have. This helps us both determine if we’re a good fit to work together.
First Session
If we decide to work together, we’ll arrange an initial in-person session at my practice in Edinburgh (86 Causewayside, EH9 1QS). This first meeting is for assessment and to agree on how we’ll work together. We will discuss your goals, my approach, and establish a formal contract.
Ongoing Sessions
Regular sessions are 50 minutes long and take place weekly at the same day and time. This consistency is important for building the therapeutic relationship and creating meaningful change. Online sessions are available upon request.
If scheduling allows, it is possible to adjust the frequency to twice-weekly or fortnightly, depending on what serves your needs best.
What to expect:
Therapy is a collaborative process. You can expect me to be fully present, attentive, and working to understand your experience. I’ll guide you through practices that help you notice and work with feelings and sensations, always checking in to ensure you feel safe and supported. Our work involves building skills in managing difficult emotions before moving into deeper or more challenging territory. Everything will proceed collaboratively to ensure the intensity of the work is manageable for you.
